NEW CAPTAINS EVENT

BRICKHAMPTON COURT GC

MONDAY, 24TH MARCH 2025

My first event of a very busy season didn’t disappoint.

On a chilly but sunny day, six new Lady Captains visited Brickhampton Court GC to take part in a fun morning on the 9-hole Glevum course.
Two nearest the pins were on offer on the two shortest but challenging par 3’s and only one green was hit by Vice-Captain Brenda. Well done!
Scoring for the main competition was very tight with the overall prize going to Past Captain Michelle (Gross 39). To finish the prizes Mystery Pairs were drawn and the pair with the lowest combined gross (85) was Sue Jordan from Lilley Brook and Jennie Dwight from Minchinhampton. Other clubs represented at the event were Alexander Park, Forest Hills, Stinchcombe and The Kendleshire.
Congratulations to everyone who took park and I hope to see them all again at the future events .
Also thanks go to all the staff at Brickhampton Court GC for looking after us during the day.

committee away day

marlborough golf club

thursday, 17th april 2025

The Committee Away Day was held at Marlborough Golf Club on April 17th.

12 of us gathered for pre-golf refreshments and set off onto the course on what turned out to be a lovely sunny Spring day.

The club had chosen our nearest the pins - saying that these were the easier options! The staff were superb in all areas, very helpful and accommodating.

After golf we were served a lovely meal and then we had the presentation.

As organiser on the day I presented Lady Captain Debbie with some flowers as a 'thank you' for organising the event beforehand and for donating her entry fee for prizes.

Winners :
Nearest the Pin : Barbara Smyth.
Nearest the Pin in 2 : Val Bland.

3rd place Maria McNally 37 points

2nd place Michelle Craker 39 points on countback on the back 9

Winner Mel Squires 39 points. Well done Mel, winner of the Committee Cup

CIRENCESTER GOLF CLUB

WEDNESDAY 30TH APRIL 2025

We were given a warm and helpful welcome by Emma in the office and Emma the Catering Manager. All was set up ready for us to welcome 42 ladies from 17 different clubs and we enjoyed tea or coffee and bacon or egg rolls before the golf.

We held a “Guess the Value” of 2 hampers to raise funds for Gloucestershire Girls’ Golf. I was very pleased to email Janice Saunders (GGG Organiser) advising that we had raised £135, thanks to the ladies’ generosity. I have had a lovely reply thanking everyone.

After another very hot day on a well maintained course the results were very close. No team “burned up the course” so to speak but several gave the scorers some hard work to find the winners.

Nearest the Pin 2nd hole was Chris Potter from Lilley Brook GC.
Nearest the Pin in 2 on the 16th was Carolyn Thompson from Forest Hills GC.
